G4 Media, Inc. is one of the latest victims of layoffs due to the unusual economic problems the world has been facing. A representative from G4, which merged with TechTV to become G4techTV, only to become G4 again, said that the company plans to cut back two daily programs, X-Play and Attack of the Show to three and four original episodes per week, respectively, effective March 2, 2009.
While they have refused to tell people exactly how many people were "fired," sources have indicated that the percentage is a single digit. Apparently, G4 has decided that it wants to re-arrange spending and invest more in other series beyond its two big daily shows. Apparently, we can expect some original programming this year!
Well... we'll see... maybe Martin Sargent will make a comeback?
Martin Sargent is awesome! You may remember that crazy bastard from that time he hosted The Screen Savers on TechTV until 2003, when he got his own show. Later, TechTV was merged with G4. Of course, Unscrewed with Martin Sargent was pretty damn funny. But it was then cancelled in November, 2004.
But very recently, CEO Jim Louderback cancelled Mr. Sargent's show, and Mr. Sargent is once again unemployed. This is a sad day for us all. Well, even though it has happened more than a week ago, I am finally to speak of this today.
And a few days ago, Martin Sargent made a statement on his blog, which hadn't been updated in more than one year.
Martin Sargent, the most kick-ass celebrity in the world, may have had his kick-ass television show Unscrewed with Martin Sargent cancelled, but he made a kick-ass comeback when he released Infected by Martin Sargent on the Revision3 network. But then that stupid asshole Jim Louderback cancelled it... but then gave him a show if he could rely on no resources other than the bandwidth used to deliver the show.
Well folks, the show has come back to life! Check out Internet Superstar!
