You Can Vote Now or Later - Please Vote!
written on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 by Huy Dang
ElectionAs you should know by now (unless you're Esther), Canada's opposition political parties have triggered an unnecessary and opportunistic election.

However, an election is still an election, and Canadians should bear some responsibility when it comes to electing their government. After all, they are paying for the government.

This will be Canada's fourth election in less than seven years.

Please vote.

On May 2, you can vote at your local polling station. To find out which riding you live in, please click here.

You can vote earlier or by special ballot if you are a Canadian citizen but don't currently reside in Canada (or are currently residing outside of your usual riding... an example is if someone thought they were too good to go school in Vancouver so they moved to Montréal because they got into McGill).

If you are too lazy to vote by mail through a special ballot but don't really want to wait until May 2 to vote, advance polls are also available. More information can be found at the link that we have provided.

As much as there is a party we would like for you to vote for, we aren't going to tell you who to vote for. This is your choice.

So, please, go out and vote!

Here are things you need to know before voting:

- You do not get to select the prime minister. The parties do that.
- A local candidate will represent your riding, and you may make your selection based on the candidate themself or their party (this is totally up to you).
- You need to know which riding/federal voting district you live in.
- You need to be a registered voter. If you file an income tax return (unless you've been evading taxes), the Canada Revenue Agency would have asked you if you want them to share your information with Elections Canada.
