A Tribute to Saskatoon Transit
written on Tuesday, July 02, 2007 by Huy Dang
Saskatoon Transit LogoBack during my childhood days, Saskatoon Transit Services was my main form of transportation and still was for a very long time. Eventually, the fledging transit system did an 18-month (or something like that) study and realized that the University of Saskatchewan was a priority spot when it came to ridership.

Another issue with the transit system was that there was no bus service to the John G. Diefenbaker International Airport. So, that was eventually resolved.

On July 2, 2006, Saskatoon Transit Services re-launched itself as Saskatoon Transit and began to offer newer routes, including those new DART routes. Now many of these routes kicked major ass, but there some annoyances that didn't really bother me as they didn't affect me very much.

During its first month, Saskatoon Transit received many complaints (probably from old people who can't appreciate drivers who drive like maniacs). That number dropped dramatically in August but then skyrocketed when those damn students returned to school in September of 2006.

Saskatoon Transit Bus 9704Now, September was the first time I really experienced the new transit system. It was also the first time I waited for a DART route. The first impression I had was, "Wow!" And as the bus I took (route 50) sped pass all of the vehicles in the lanes adjacent to it, I said to myself, "This guy kicks ass."

Eventually, the problems started affecting me when my bus was often late and I missed the bus downtown to get to work. I was angry, sometimes. But, I NEVER once made a complaint about the service.

One year later, and I still LOVE Saskatoon Transit! So congratulations, you made it! The City of Saskatoon kicks major ass and there's nothing you can do about it!
