2006 Saskatoon Civic Elections: who you should vote for -- and who you SHOULDN'T vote for!
written on Friday, October 09, 2006 by Huy Dang
October 25, 2006 is the day that citizens in our fair city, called Saskatoon, will decide who will run the City for the next three years. Voters will decide on the following:
Mayor (to be elected at large)
City Councillor (to be elected in each of the ten wards)
Public School Board Trustee (to be elected in each of the ten wards)
Seven Catholic School Board Trustees (to be elected at large)
The candidates running for mayor are as follows (oh yes, my opinions are included):
Don Atchison
Businessman
This guy rules, he should win.
Mark Ewart
Blue Collar Worker
I have no opinion on this guy, but he's probably a loser.
Ron B. Kocsis
Businessman
Do we really want to elect some guy with a last name like Kocsis?
Jim Maddin
Private Investigator
This guy is a waste of money.
Johnny Melenchuk
Shop Foreman (Construction)
This guy has a cool name.
Lenore Swystun
Community Development/Planning Consultant
This lady is a waste of money. Plus, she's a lesbian and gay people shouldn't be in politics.
Mark Dean Weinmeyer
Businessman
I have no opinion on this guy... but he is probably a loser.
Now, there's a lot of councillors to choose from... so, I'm not going to list them all. But, I will list the number of candidates for that position in each ward:
Ward 1: 2
Ward 2 (the one I live in): 7
Ward 3: 1 (you're stuck with Maurice Neault, again)
Ward 4: 1 (you're stuck with Myles Heidt, again)
Ward 5: 3
Ward 6: 3
Ward 7: 2
Ward 8: 3
Ward 9: 2
Ward 10: 2
Okay, so maybe all this information was useless. But...
I IMPLORE YOU TO VOTE FOR:
Don Atchison
And, I IMPLORE YOU NOT TO VOTE FOR:
Lenore Swystun
